This years remembrance day efforts. It was originally going to be based on a sasson poem but ended up taking inspiration from Laura Marling's Goodbye England (Covered in snow) instead. Bit rushed but time was scarce.

Something basic I'm toying with in Illustrator/In-Design. The text is non-existent, though after some gins its all a load of old blah anyway!

Conquering A Blank Page Slowly

It's not much to look at but the creative funk I've found myself in has finally shifted. I've begun once again to work on leap year and opted to begin on one of the Autumn scenes. It's been a while since I've done some painting so getting back into it will take some time. I decided to start with an easy task which every high school student begins on: colouring in some fruit which will make up part of a pomegranate tree in the foreground. As you can see there is a long way to go but I'm looking forward to breaking out the warm colours and posting it on here gives me some incentive to finish it!

Updated my website and got myself in gear by putting a sample of all my portfolio so far in a place where it can be accessed at once and viewed as a whole.

Updated Showreel

This is an updated showreel, not quite how I would like it but enough to show some progress at the moment. Sadly the hard-drive with all of my undergraduate work on it has ceased to work so fingers crossed I can put it in for repair and get it back (at least in part). I'm hoping to get some work sent out to companies etc. soon so thought it was wort updating the showreel in a basic manner while I can so that my website can ref;lect some of the more recent work I have done. Hopefully I'll get an even shinier version out soon...

Waverley : Masters Degree Show Film

So this was the version of Waverley as it stood in the Masters Degree Show, from which I was awarded an Msc. in Animation & Visualisation with Distinction. Phew and big thanks to everyone who got involved/ supported me along the way.

This was a video created as a basic making of which was played on one of the imacs during the degree show. Time constraints and lack of memory coupled with the knowledge that this was an extra we were not getting assessed on meant that it is not a fully polished piece but hopefully gives some insight into how Waverley was created.

So..after many hand-in's and deadlines. This morning is the final presentation for our assessment. It's been weighing over me this weekend and for no real reason I'm pretty scared about it but in 1.5 hours it will all be over. Phew. Just wanted to wish the rest of the animators good luck, all your work is looking great and remember it will be fine!

Opening Shot Update

Updated version of the opening shot, I've done very little to this as I liked the feeling of it but felt it was too static. By rendering out the frames at an oversize format, I was able to extend the boundaries of the shot and add in a camera movement.

Princes Street Madness

With this one I have corrected the colour, realigned the frame composition, amended the rotoscope and added in a camera pan. The footage for this shot comes in at over 37 seconds, giving me a lot of scope for choice. I chose the below section (though the actual shot in the film will be less) because I liked the pacing of the arrival of the train. Overall I quite like this shot, more than any of the others it justifies the use of the site and is most like Sant'Elia's original drawing:
