The masters course starts next week and already ideas are flowing in the pipeline. The ever resourceful Brian Lindsay who was the director on Mawkin's Backfire is also returning to study and with another collaborative opportunity outwith uni. The link below is for an animatic to a live project which Brian is working on and eager to re-live the Mawkin's teamwork experience I will be on the backgrounds! Very exciting. I cannot and willnot take any credit for this so far but please have a look at Brian's animatic link here and let him know what you think. Exciting!

Back to The Digital Drawing Board
New project alert. Potential master's project begins. I'm using CAD properly for the first time since I was in the office to draw a building which never got beyond a futurist perspective sketch. Tricky but strangely satisfying. More details to follow as soon as something gets approved/finished, but for now have an under-development snapshot.

www.sarahdargie.com
Its up so why not come visit. First website I've ever built [aside from the L2 one for that firefly animation] so comments etc. are very welcome. It's not quite how I want it yet and as it was made on my dearly beloved but sporadic mac I'm still unsure whether the website functions fully in the real world. Now finally i can give the code a rest and get back to the drawing board...

Shot 09_Take 01
Well, I was so excited at getting back to this project only to be hit with painfully slow software and constant problems.
Its rendered out at very poor quality and there's tweaking needed with regards to the camera and the point where it flashes is where I'm having difficulty stitching parts two and three together. Most of the problems and extreme thinking and rendering time [even at this low quality it was taking approximately 10mins a frame] is due the ancient version of after effects on my dear old laptop. Its taken me far too long to get this far and as my time is limited at present this will have to do until I go back to uni and can hi-jack the power of a far faster machine with whose help I know it will take about an afternoon. It does however leave time for comments and all will be taken on board so fire away...

Springtime!
Work on Leap Year finally returns with a vengeance!
Scene 04. Shot 09 blocked out background layout/colour.
This background is for the continuation of this shot here: http://vimeo.com/15432152 so you can see there is still so much more that I am going to do, both in photoshop and in post. This shot is the first one where the audience is confronted with the magic of this city and its supposed to sweep the viewer through a global impression of morning and springtime as the city awakens. This scene is dedicated to Golden Boy and I'm very excited about playing with it and seeing it when fully completed, I have some ideas for it which hopefully will work and get it to where I want but for now here it is...

Losing the Plot?
So this time round the theme was theatre. I have been doing two drawings for a potential job which I can't put on the blog, also as well as trying to learn Spanish in Spain and I fear that the combination of these things has made me lose the plot slightly. So theatre. What I came up with was The Dance of the Snowflakes from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite [you tube link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBeUxXSNiFc]...meets shadow puppet theatre, Cirque du Soleil and the Alhambra. Successful, debatable. Confused, Definitely. Fun, Incredibly.

And Now For Something Completely Different...
Getting back into Photoshop after degree show was always going to be tricky so here we have draft 1 of a short exercise for my mum who is planning on putting some poems and a novel she wrote online for kindle readers in the hope that someone will read it and required a cover. Having not read the book yet *ahem* I was given a quick sketch of some snowdrops and told add a tombstone to make it similar to Salvador Dali's St John on the Cross and add an abandoned 1930s doll. This is take one, bearing in mind it will be tiny when it reaches the kindle format. The stories are set around aberdeen and are drama/mystery/local interest...
